Guatemala City, November 25 (AGN).- Heads of the ministries, secretariats and the National Association of Municipalities (Anam) participated in the decoration with the Order of the Quetzal to the ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Li-Cheng Cheng.
During the delivery of the badge, the representatives of the Executive expressed the support provided during these years.
Above all, the efforts made by Ambassador Cheng in support of the development of Guatemalans and the country were recognized.
Likewise, the values and principles of the diplomat to carry out the different support actions were highlighted.

Three years of management
For his part, Ambassador Li-Cheng Cheng received this recognition as a thank you and farewell from the national authorities, for his three years of diplomatic mission.
From this account, during the time in charge, the cooperation between both countries allowed support in areas such as:
- education
- infrastructure
- technology
- Health
- transportation
- culture
- and strengthening of institutions.
This has allowed Guatemala to increase its development and improve the quality of life of its citizens.
In addition, it reaffirms the commitment to strengthen the different diplomatic relations that it has with other States, especially with the Republic of China (Taiwan).

About supporting Guatemala
As part of the recognition given by the authorities, the support provided by China (Taiwan) during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic is highlighted.
In that sense, when Guatemala was not prepared with protective equipment, China Taiwan reached out to provide immediate support.
They were even one of the important pillars to keep classes at a distance with the donation of computer equipment and technological equipment to maintain communication between students and teachers.
In the same way, in terms of education, Guatemala worked together with the embassy to strengthen the educational quality of the country.
This through the donation of masks for students and parents and the opening of online and face-to-face courses to improve professional skills.

In the health
One of the most important and impactful projects for Guatemala is the construction of the Chimaltenango hospital.
This work marks a new milestone regarding bilateral cooperation between the two nations, which has quality technology and decent spaces for the care of Guatemalans.
For this reason, the head of the Ministry of Health, Francisco Coma, mentioned this project and others in the same sector to safeguard people’s lives, a priority for the Government of the Republic of Guatemala.

historical recognition
On the other hand, the anam He announced that support was received from the embassy in all sectors of development of the towns.
For this reason, as an association they decided to give him the historic Manuel Colom Argueta distinctive, as the highest decoration of the Anam.
In this sense, the head of the association, Francisco Mejía, emphasized that it is the first time that it has been delivered to a diplomat.
Also, that on previous occasions the delivery has been made only to presidents, in recognition of their efforts in favor of institutional strengthening and development of municipalities.
It is the first time that recognition has been given to an international diplomat, but it is well deserved for the support of the people of Guatemala, not only in this government, but at a general level, Mejía said.
