Polyglot Pedro Perebal returns to Guatemala and now speaks 20 languages ​​and reveals his new projects

After three years of living in Mexico with his wife, polyglot Pedro Perebal, originally from Chichicastenango, Quiché, He returned to Guatemala to enjoy the Christmas holidays with his family.

Perebal returns as a hyperpolyglot, Well now he speaks 20 languages and is a member of the International Association of Hyperpolyglots (Hypia).

Together with his family, he arrived in the country on Thursday, November 24, and spoke with Free Press and Guatevisión Newscast about your achievements and new projects.

He recalled that he left for Mexico in search of new opportunities and “thank God” he made it and now he returns satisfied with having fulfilled part of his goals.

“I feel happy, I feel proud to come back to my roots, where my dreams began, being Guatemalan is the best thing that can happen to me,” Perebal said.

In Mexico, he promoted an online project to teach languages ​​in different countries. The project is a page named Foreign Language Course Crossing Borders in which classes are taught to learn nine languages.

Perebal stressed that after hard work now speaks 20 languages ​​and plans to speak more, Well, one of his goals is to obtain a Guinness record for Guatemala, by exceeding 52 languages.

“I want to leave my name embodied forever and demonstrating that in Guatemala there is the capacity to learn something that perhaps is impossible,” he added.

He currently speaks English, Italian, French, Portuguese, German, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Swedish, and Romanian. He is also Catalan, Turkish, Indonesian and Dutch, among others.

He is currently studying Arabic. Perebal highlighted it takes a lot of practicesuch as books, dictionaries and brochures to know the grammar.

He also makes conversations with people from other countries to learn.

Among His plans are to open another language academy online so that people have more access to learn.

On January 2, 2023, he plans to return to Mexico to continue his work teaching languages.

Estella Cruz, Perebal’s wife, said she was excited to arrive in Guatemala and to live with her husband’s family, whom she described as a persevering person.

His story

When his story was revealed in 2018 by an Internet user, Perebal was working as a guard in a straightening and painting workshop in zone 5 of Guatemala City, where it was discovered that he spoke 10 languages.

The polyglot, an autodidact who began his studies reading language books while he was a security guard for a company.
