Tamahú, Alta Verapaz has the first Warren bridge of five acquired in a state of Calamity

The first Warren bridge of five acquired by the Government of Guatemala during the state of Calamity due to the rainy season, it was inaugurated this Thursday, November 24 in Tamahú, Alta Verapaz.

The activity was headed by the President Alejandro Giammattei, who assured that the work will contribute to the passage of some 4,000 vehicles who travel that route.

“Throughout the construction of this road, this piece sank every so often and traffic had to stop because the road had to be raised. Today the bridge comes to save the current of water that passes underneath and that causes this sink,” the president explained.

Giammattei recognized the importance of the road because it is the exit to the sea from Alta Verapaz and down to Izabal.

Also that the structure is one of the five that were acquired for emergencies through the Ministry of Defense, for which he thanked the Army Corps of Engineers for the rapid construction.

Finally, the solution that the authorities gave to that emergency made the use of the military-type bridge unnecessary.

Each of the bridges has a cost of Q27 million 850 thousandbeing the total expense of the purchase that was made in the country of Q139 million 250 thousand.

The Army received the first structure on July 17, 2022 and the second one a month later, on August 17. Two other bridges were delivered in September and the last one in October.
