Foreign Ministry congratulates Ilan Goldfajn, elected new president of the IDB
Guatemala City, Nov 21 (AGN).- The Government of Guatemala, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (minex)expressed his congratulations to Ilan Goldfajn for his election yesterday, as the new president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
Through a publication on social networks, the Guatemalan Foreign Ministry expresses Guatemala’s willingness to continue working on cooperation and investment issues.

The election of the new president of the IDB for the next five years was held this Sunday at the bank’s headquarters in Washington, DC, with the participation of face-to-face and virtual delegations.
In this process, the candidate must be elected by a majority of the voting power of the 48 IDB member countries, and the support of at least 15 of the 28 regional member countries.
The Brazilian Ilan Goldfajn participated in the election along with the Argentine candidate, Cecilia Todesca Bocco. Likewise, from Chile, Nicolás Eyzaguirre Guzmán, and Gerard Johnson, from Trinidad and Tobago.
Its functions
As president, Goldfajn will oversee the operations and administration of the IDB, from where he will work with the public sector in Latin America and the Caribbean.
