The Picturesque Towns of Guatemala

This is a project created by Inguat whose main objective is to contribute to the preservation of heritage, development and diversification of the tourism offer in Guatemala.

In addition, it is sought that a picturesque town, in addition to fulfilling its image, must have the commitment of local authorities to meet certain established criteria.

Among them are cleaning, rearrangement of road circulation, landscaping of green areas, sign regulations and their implementation, as well as having a tourist safety program and more.

Estanzuela is the first Picturesque Town of Guatemala

After meeting the established criteria to become a “picturesque town” the Guatemalan Institute of Tourismgave the municipality of Estanzuela the badge that formalizes its appointment as the first picturesque town in the country.

The municipality of Estanzuela He has made various murals that represent the local culture and has also maintained important tourist sites in the region. What a chili!

The destinations nominated to be a Picturesque Town of Guatemala are:

  • Isla de Flores, in Peten
  • San Juan del Obispo in Sacatepequez
  • Zacapa City
  • Livingston in Izabal
  • San Cristobal Totonicapán
  • Quetzaltenango City
  • Salcajá in Quetzaltenango
  • Santa Catarina Palopo in Solola.
