Low temperatures and rain are expected in the next hour due to a cold front and moisture ingress

The National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (Insivumeh) reported that The weather in Guatemala for the next few hours will be with low temperatures and rain in much of the national territory.

The Insivumeh notes that currently there is abundant cloudiness over the national territory and light drizzle and fog are reported on Alta Verapaz. In addition, wind from the north with a speed of 30 km/h in the department of Guatemala.

The highest accumulated rainfall in the last 24 hours occurred in the stations of Cobán, Alta Verapaz, with 31.7 mm and in Puerto Barrios, Izabal, with 26.4.

He adds that the presence of a cold front that is dissipating north of Yucatan, Mexico and the ingress of moisture from both coasts of Guatemala generate abundant clouds on the national territory.

He explains that for this reason a cold environment is expected over the West, the Northern Transversal Strip and high parts of the Central Altiplano, a cool environment in the other regions.

There may also be rain and drizzle intermittent rains accompanied by electrical activity over Petén, the Transversal Strip of the North Caribbean and the West, over Bocacosta and the western Pacific in the afternoon. Drizzle at the end of the afternoon over the Central Highlands.

He adds that the north wind will continue between 30 and 35 km/h, being higher over mountainous sectors or with canyons. It is recommended to continue taking the necessary precautions on the most vulnerable sectors of the country due to rain, cold and the accelerated north wind.
