Guatemala commemorates the World Day in Remembrance of Victims of Traffic Acts.
Guatemala City, Nov 20 (AGN).- In the framework of the commemoration of the World Day in Remembrance of the Victims of Traffic Acts, Guatemalan authorities highlighted the importance of preventing road accidents with precautionary measures.
The Traffic Department of the National Civil Police (DTPNC) carried out a special activity in Plaza Berlin, zone 13, in homage to those affected by mishaps on streets and highways.

The entity refers that the Traffic Safety Observatory (Onset), in its latest report, highlights that from January to October 2022 in Guatemala there were 6,443 accidents, which resulted in 1,767 deaths and 6,998 injuries.
The highest percentage of victims ranges from 20 to 34 years old, and 87% of the people who die are men. The daily average of accidents is 21 mishaps, six dead and 23 injured, Add the institution.

Commemoration
The World Day in Remembrance of the Victims of Traffic Acts was designated by the United Nations Organization (UN) to commemorate the people killed and injured by road events.
In addition, it is held every third Sunday in November, with the aim of raising awareness among the population about the devastation caused by these mishaps. Likewise, recognize the suffering of those affected and reduce the accident rate figures.
The Traffic Department, through its different sections, continues to carry out prevention and information campaigns to strengthen road culture in the country, prevent and stop deaths and injuries from road incidents, mentioned the DTPNC.
