Guatemala City, Nov 17 (AGN).- Guatemala is headquarters of the 77th meeting of the Regional Commission of the Mundo Maya Organization (WMO), with the objective of continuing the actions focused on achieving the sustainable tourism development of the Mayan World Region through the promotion and contribution to the conservation of historical and cultural heritage.

For Guatemala, it is an honor to host the 77th meeting of the WMO, in which member countries have the opportunity to determine the different marketing and commercialization strategies for the development of sustainable tourism, said Anayansy Rodríguez, director of the Guatemalan Institute. of Tourism (inguat).
He also added that these actions allow the region to be promoted as a multi-destination. In addition, they motivate international and national visitors to do local and regional tourism.
In this regard, he said that, as part of the actions to promote the natural and cultural offer, Inguat, in coordination with the WMO, has developed a interactive map of the region. The main archaeological sites and natural reserves of the member countries are located in this tool.
The tool was developed with state-of-the-art technology in geographic information systems and the content has the endorsement of the different authorities of the five WMO member countries. The objective is to make the different segments of archeology and adventure available to users, Rodríguez added.
Finally, he reiterated the commitment of the Government of Guatemala to support joint actions, in order to position the unique tourist territory in the world.
