Fuego volcano maintains explosive activity and ash falls are reported in nearby communities

The Insivumeh reported on the night of this Thursday, November 17, that the current activity of the Fire Volcano generates from 5 to 15 explosions per hour, with weak, moderate and strong characteristics.

This explosive activity has caused moderate and strong rumbles, which are audible in the communities near the volcano; however, the current weather conditions (high wind speed) They favor that these can be heard even at distances of tens of kilometers.

The explosive activity also generates abundant incandescence in the volcano’s crater, which is easily visible at night and early in the morning.

The avalanches in each explosion contribute material towards the flanks of the colossus and their trajectory is delimited by the topography of the ravines. Currently, there is a significant contribution of material towards the Ceniza ravine (southwest) and Las Lajas ravine (southeast).

The reports from the volcanological observatory confirm cash columns at a height of 4,500 to 4,800 meters above sea level, moving in a southwesterly direction.

Likewise, fine ash falls in the communities located on the southwest and west flanks. Periods of profuse degassing and constant sounds, similar to a train locomotive machine, last up to 15 min.

According to Insivumeh, this activity is typical of the Fuego Volcano, but the possibility of registering an increase in the number of explosions and long periods of degassing is not ruled out. in the following days, they produce lava flows towards any of the seven ravines.
