Carriers assure that blockades will continue in Guatemala this November 16 and give the points
On Monday, November 14, several highways in Guatemala were the scenario of blockades by carriers who demonstrated the high cost of fuel and the basic basket.
The demonstrations lasted several hours and some lasted until 9:00 p.m.; nevertheless, the blocks were removed after a dialogue was agreed for this Tuesday, November 15.
The Presidential Commission for Peace and Human Rights reported Monday through a statement that through dialogue they managed to get the carriers to agree to lift the blockades “immediately” after reaching an agreement with the representatives of the companies, who agreed to meet with the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons, Luis Aroldo Ayala, to “seek a peaceful solution” to the problem that affects them.
The Minister of Energy and Mines, Alberto Pimentel, reported this Tuesday, November 15, that he met with the National Transport Coordinator last week and a commitment was made to convene a working group to listen to them and to discuss possible mitigation measures.
He said that this Tuesday there was a meeting with the carriers not affiliated to the Coordinator, those who have blocked roads.

The leader indicated that the authorities of Energy and Mines They will have a meeting with the aforementioned Coordinator, although he clarified that the associations and unions that participate in the blockades are independent of it.
He stated that they are independent and need an immediate response, otherwise the blockades will continue.
He assured that the population is joining this movement, due to the high cost of the basic basket and demand a response from the government, Well, according to the leader, they have asked to be attended by the high authorities of the Executive and there is no response.
“We specifically ask for the freezing of the price of fuelsdiesel, super and regular”, he highlighted.
He warned that they do not accept that they only lower the price of diesel, since this issue is social, since it affects the economy and therefore the basic basket.
He pointed out that there were no agreements in the meeting on Energy and Mines and They are concerned that there is no increase in wages and the population is the most affected.
Customs with blockade
According to the leader, the customs offices of La Hachadura in Ciudad Pedro de Alvarado, the Tecún Umán II customs office in San Marcos, and the one in Petén continue to be taken.
