Twelve institutions promote strengthening of enterprises
Guatemala City, Nov 13 (AGN).- Twelve institutions were validated by the Ministry of Economy (Mineco) to be part of a project to strengthen and finance entrepreneurship.
This project is promoted by the Vice Ministry of Development of Mipymes, of Mineco, and the Workers’ Bank (Bantrab).
As part of the initiative, the 12 institutions will be in charge of business training for entrepreneurs. With this, the participants will be able to present suitable business plans in order to be evaluated to receive financing.
In this sense, the Economy portfolio indicated that the institutions that have the corresponding validation are:

- Prodetur Sacatepequez
- University Center of the East of the University of San Carlos of Guatemala (Usac)
- Jalapa University Center
- Association of Managers of Guatemala

- Galileo University
- Municipal Entrepreneurship Center of the Municipality of Villa Nueva

People who want to be part of the entrepreneurship financing program must be graduated from one of the 12 validated institutions.
In addition, entrepreneurs can contact the institutions directly to obtain more information on how to be part of the initiative.
According to the Mineco, enterprises from all sectors can participate and request financing of between 20,000 and 300,000 quetzales; process in which no collateral is requested.
Support for entrepreneurs
According to data from Bantrab, in 2018 and 2019, 1,196 entrepreneurs were supported through a diploma in creativity and innovation.
During this period, 217 people were also technically trained and the business incubation of 212 participants was promoted. All these actions as part of strengthening Guatemalan entrepreneurship.
