Representatives of 600 banks meet in the country to discuss financial development

The 56th assembly of the Latin American Federation of Banks (Felaban) takes place in Guatemala from today until November 15, an event that brings together banking associations from 18 countries on the continent, and more than 600 banks and financial entities in the Americas Latin.

This year, Felaban seeks to promote and facilitate contact, understanding and direct relationships between financial and banking entities, to impact the development of the region, seeking greater financial deepening and greater access to financial services for low-income population groups. , as a way to contribute to the reduction of poverty in Latin American countries.

“There is a first-class conference program, cultural and social activities that will accompany the days of the assembly and first-class logistics that will facilitate the meetings that are part of the central objective of the visitors,” assured Luis Lara, president of the Banking Association of Guatemala (ABG).

The keynote address will be given on Monday, November 14, by Silvina Moschini, president and executive producer of Unicorn Hunters, who will speak on the topic: “The future of money, next generation: currencies, cryptocurrencies, Web 3.0 technologies, banking and regulations”. She is an international analyst of social media trends, corporate innovation and e-commerce development. In addition, she regularly participates as an analyst in the technology area of ​​the CNN news network.

Lara emphasized that the basic activity of banking is to protect the public’s deposits, and that savers will continue to rely on regulated, prestigious and traditional institutions, but new actors will enter the credit field that will not necessarily be financial institutions and there will be an enormous diversity of products and services, from very basic financing to sophisticated operations.

“The most solid or oldest companies will not necessarily survive, but rather those that adapt faster to change, which is why these meetings are necessary for us to exchange successful experiences,” he concluded.

However, not everything will be work, since the participants will be able to get to know several of the main tourist attractions of the country.

Visits to Antigua Guatemala, Pacaya volcano, sport fishing on the Pacific coast, Tikal National Park, Zacapa Rum tasting and golf tournaments are planned. This will help promote Guatemala as a country brand, in addition to the generation of more than a thousand direct and indirect jobs for the meetings industry, which will give a strong boost to the industry without chimneys in the hotel, gastronomy and general services areas.
