Huehuetenango, Nov 11 (AGN).- Through the Directorate for the Improvement of the Socioeconomic Conditions of Women, of the Secretariat of Social Works of the President’s Wife (SOSEP)supports entrepreneurs from 28 municipalities of Huehuetenango prioritized by the Great National Crusade for Nutrition.
Success stories are already known in the country regarding the productive units (UP) created by the aforementioned dependency. One of them is the group La Esperancita, made up of residents of Aguacatán.
The members of this UP sell backpacks that they crochet, with a variety of colors and designs, with which the culture and traditions of that municipality are made known. Currently, these items are sold at La Aurora International Airport and Ciudad Cayalá, in the capital.
This was achieved thanks to a link through the marketing program of the SOSEP, which supports the positioning of the products of the entrepreneurs in sustainable markets.
In the PUs that have been established in the department, plastic basketry, bags and wallets are also made using the crochet technique. In addition, there are typical embroideries that are exported to the United States.

Delegates from the Secretariat indicated that, as part of the support to the neighbors, they are instructed in the administration of their business and promotion through social networks, to reach more people.
Other topics in which technical assistance is provided are the creation of labels, logos and business cards, among other elements to make enterprises more attractive and thus generate higher income.
Likewise, expo fairs are organized in coordination with the Ministries of Economy and Agriculture, as well as with municipalities and other strategic allies. Together, they support vulnerable women in rural areas with more than 200 production units in the department.
