The budget of the Congress of the Republic for 2023 will be Q1 thousand 092 million, that is, 11.4 percent more than the current one, which amounts to Q980 million.
This amount includes the allocation of Q245 million to the Human Rights Ombudsman (PDH)Q13 million to the Central American Parliament (Parlacen) and Q2.4 million to the Central American Court of Justice.
The deputies agreed to double the budget of the PDH after the departure of Jordán Rodas and the appointment of Alejandro Córdova as the new magistrate of conscience.
Most of the resources of the Congress are destined to the payroll, since it is worth remembering that the budgeted workers receive an increase of 10 percent per year on the base salary. This year that item represented Q657 million and the other year it will represent Q663 million.

Budget could increase
Although for now it is only about negotiations, the union and the Board of Directors seek to reach agreements to sign a new Collective Agreement that increases the benefits of the workers.
It has transpired that the union, led by Alfredo Tumax, seeks to make effective an increase of 10 percent on the total salaryas it was granted before 2016 when the Congress payroll was released.
That increase triggered wages to the point that several workers exceed Q30 thousand per month. The best paid worker is the General Accountant, who iHe started working in 1964 and currently earns Q77 thousand 150.00 monthly.
Another example is the Director of Protocol, who receives Q65 thousand 700 monthly, while the person in charge of Banks receives Q61 thousand monthly. An assistant also appears on the list of the best paid with a monthly salary of Q56 thousand per month.
