President highlights immediate response due to entry of tropical phenomenon Lisa
Guatemala City, Nov. 2 (AGN).- The President Alejandro Giammattei highlighted this Wednesday that since Monday the Government of Guatemala issued an early warning before the entry of the tropical phenomenon Lisa into national territory.
His statements were given within the framework of the XXIII International Congress of Maritime Law, held in the colonial city of Antigua Guatemala.
Since Monday, immediate response teams have been mobilized to the departments that will be most affected by the entry of the meteorological phenomenon Lisa, the ruler pointed out.
The president indicated that food, humanitarian aid and shelters were also set up mainly in the north of the country.
Entry
During an interview with TV Azteca Guatemala, the president reported that Tropical Cyclone Lisa is expected to enter the country starting at 6:00 p.m. this Wednesday.

According to the latest report from the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred), the most affected departments will be:
- Peten
- Izabal
- Upper Verapaz
- Quiche
- Huehuetenango
- Saint Mark
The president highlighted the monitoring of this natural phenomenon with the Conred System and continuing with response actions.

Equipment
To strengthen capacities and provide an immediate response to the entry of tropical cyclone Lisa, the deployment of specialized teams to different parts of the national territory was instructed.
The objective is to define actions for the benefit of the population that is in situations of risk, emergency or disaster (RED).
Preventive actions
The Conred, which declared an institutional red alert on October 31, continues to carry out preventive actions in attention to the population that may be affected by the rains, maintaining constant communication with the territorial authorities for decision-making.
From this account, meetings were held with departmental governors where coordination guidelines were recommended for the care of Guatemalans.
