Guatemala City, Nov 2 (AGN).- Due to the approach of tropical cyclone Lisa to Guatemalan territory, the Government of Guatemala through the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred) carries out the respective monitoring of this natural phenomenon.
The Conred highlights that, due to the effects of Lisa, the prevention plan was installed that allowed making recommendations to all the departments of the country to implement strategies that reduce the risk of emergencies.

This Tuesday, November 1, the Conred strategically deployed immediate response teams to the departments of Izabal, Alta Verapaz and Retalhuleu.

García mentioned that the monitoring continues, after the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (Insivumeh) indicated that this natural phenomenon registered displacement this Monday at a speed of 22.5 kilometers per hour, in the direction of Belize and that it is expected that this Thursday arrives in Guatemala.
The Insivumeh reports that due to the direct influence of this system, an increase in rainfall is expected starting this Wednesday. The largest accumulations of rain could occur from the north to the center of the country, mainly in the departments of Izabal, Petén, Alta Verapaz, north of Quiché and Huehuetenango, without implying accumulations of significant rainfall throughout the national territory, Garcia said.
On the other hand, Rodolfo García, spokesman for Conred, stated that the speed of the wind could also increase, mainly from the north to the center of the country.
The Conred continues to develop preventive actions in attention to the population that may be affected by the rains, maintaining constant communication with the territorial authorities for decision-making, he added.
