PMT details what traffic will be like this November 1, All Saints’ Day
The Municipal Transit Police (PMT) reported the road closures for this October 31 and next November 1, All Saints’ Day, due to the massive attendance at cemeteries and the last stage of the 61st edition of the Cycling Tour of Guatemala.
Amílcar Montejo, Mayor of Transit, announced that next Tuesday, November 1, the Cycling Tour will end and there will be a closure in the Peripheral Ringfrom the Bethania neighborhood in zone 7, a sector of zone 11, until reaching the University of San Carlos de Guatemala (Usac).
These closures, reported, will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., so there will be a presence of agents to regulate traffic in those sectors. Neighbors and drivers who travel along this route must use the auxiliary lanes of the Periferico when the transit authority allows it, the spokesman said.
During the season, within the framework of All Saints’ Day, the PMT foresees a greater movement of people in the capital city and the entrance of approximately 1.5 million visitors to the General Cemeteryin zone 3 of the capital, where it is expected that there will be more influx.
Transit prior to All Saints’ Day
According to PMT monitoring, during the morning and afternoon of this Monday, October 31, moderate attendance is observed in the General Cemetery and its surroundings. According to Montejo, they maintain vigilance to implement actions and regulate traffic and, in this way, reduce congestion at points where it is considered convenient.
As the afternoon of this Monday progresses, according to Montejo, the arrival of more visitors to other cemeteries in the city is beginning to be observed. “You are beginning to see a greater presence of Guatemalans in the General Cemetery, La Verbena, Los Cipreses, Las Buganvilias; in addition to the cemeteries of La Villa, Colima and Los Caracoles”, indicated Montejo.
It has already started massive assistance to Las Flores Cemetery in Mixco.

According to the operational plan, a deployment of more agents is expected for this November 1 due to the road closures in cemeteries and other festivities related to All Saints’ Day. “It is expected that for this Tuesday there will be greater attendance at all the cemeteries, from 7 in the morning until 6 in the afternoon”specific.

Montejo recalled that the “World’s Largest Cold Cut” activity will also take place, which will be located on 19th Street and Cemetery Avenue in zone 3.

La Verbena Cemetery
