Guatemala City, Oct 24 (AGN).- Technical teams from international cooperation in Guatemala participated in a consultation workshop as part of the process of preparing the IV Voluntary National Review Report.
The event was in charge of the Secretariat of Planning and Programming of the Presidency (Segeplan). In addition, the objective was to determine the contribution of international cooperation in the development of the country.
Their contribution is important because, as the resources of the State are limited, the contribution of the cooperators is necessary as a complement to the efforts made by the Government of Guatemala in favor of the development, especially of the most needy population, Segeplan detailed in a statement.
He also noted that the workshop discussed the importance of following up and evaluating the cooperation received.
It was also mentioned that sharing information is a mutual obligation to promote accountability and transparency.

Promoted projects
At the workshop, Segeplan reported that it has a record of 440 projects promoted from October 2020 to October 2022.
Similarly, international cooperation technicians reported data on how they contribute to compliance with the National Development Priorities (PND).
In addition, Segeplan and international cooperation expressed their commitment to improve reporting exercises from the public sector.
Given this, the secretariat recalled that since the Paris Declaration, established in 2005, work has been done to strengthen the effectiveness of development cooperation.

In July 2023, Guatemala will present the IV Voluntary National Review Report before the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). Its central theme will be Accelerate the recovery from the coronavirus disease and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development at all levels.
According to Segeplan, the report to be presented includes the contribution of the different sectors to the development of Guatemala. These sectors include public, civil society organizations, private, municipal governments, academia, research centers and international cooperation, among others.
In addition, the document will review five Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in depth:
- clean water and sanitation
- affordable and clean energy
- industry, innovation and infrastructure
- sustainable cities and communities
- partnerships for the SDGs
To date, Guatemala has submitted three voluntary national review reports in 2017, 2019 and 2021.
