“I am not the one who pays, they pay me for this”, Neto Bran responds to the TSE and says that he has not paid for network advertising
A An extension and clarification appeal together with an amparo action will be the first legal measures that Neto Bran will take, Mayor of Mixco, to cancel the notice of his possible non-registration as a candidate for the 2023 elections.
The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) considers that Bran is using social networks to promote himself with political intentions, using the label of “content creator” to appear on different social networks.
According to a press release from the electoral body, Bran identifies himself on Facebook as a “content creator”but in the other social networks it appears as “municipal mayor”accounts where your multimedia content is also disclosed.
For the TSE, the mayor is being promoted but he affirms something different. “I am not the one who pays, they pay me for this”, said Bran, by ensuring that his content receives so many visits that he even receives financial compensation.
He rejected the observations made by the TSE and affirms that the first step is to present an extension and clarification so that the electoral authority retracts. If this did not work, they would continue with an appeal.
Regardless of these measures, it will present an amparo action because it affirms that the electoral warning violates its guarantees.
“The protection is presented when there is a clear violation of the constitutional rights of a person, in this case it is totally clear that my right to elect and be elected is being violated in a situation that, to begin with, is not proven,” he said.
The mayor had already been previously warned by the TSE, he had to sign an affidavit but he affirms that it was clear in that document: “I have never carried out an early campaign, therefore I could not promise or commit myself not to continue doing it if I never I have done it”.

Neto Bran’s statements came after the conclusion of the first national assembly of the Guatemalan People’s Party group, where Bran was presented as deputy general secretary.
The mayor agreed in said political grouping with Jorge Arévalo Valadez, former deputy who in 2018 received a commutable sentence of five years in prison for the crimes of concealment and ideological falsehood.
The former congressman admitted doing the paperwork to justify the origin of Q500 thousand that were the product of illicit activities, as demonstrated by the investigation by the Public Ministry (MP).
This precedent was minimized by Bran when he was questioned about the participation of Arévalo Valadez, who considers that the fact will not affect the political group.
