President sends message on International Religious Freedom Day
Guatemala City, Oct 27 (AGN).- Guatemala joined this October 27 in the commemoration of the International Day of Religious Freedom.
The President Alejandro Giammattei sent a message about this special day emphasizing the importance of valuing and defending the right to freedom of religion.
Today, on International Religious Freedom Day, we endorse Guatemala’s firm commitment, as light to the nations, to continue promoting, valuing and defending the inalienable right to freedom of religion, indicated the ruler in his message on social networks.
Actions
The Secretary of Social Communication of the Presidency, Kevin López Oliva, mentioned on his official Twitter account that the Government of Guatemala continues to promote actions to guarantee religious freedom.
On this, he stressed that it is a right established in article 36 of the Political Constitution of the Republic, and the protection of life.

Commitment
On Tuesday, October 25, the Guatemalan dignitary headed the multi-religious table, within the framework of the commemoration of the International Day for Religious Freedom.
During this meeting, the chief executive recalled the work of this table to resolve and guarantee freedom of worship.
The defense of life, the defense of the family, the defense of religious freedom and the defense of many of our values are in danger in other parts of the world. However, they must not endanger themselves in our country, indicated the president.
At this meeting, leaders of religious entities that attended the meeting valued Guatemala’s efforts to guarantee freedom of worship.
I celebrate this International Religious Freedom Day which is commemorated every October 27. But let’s not celebrate every October 27, let’s celebrate every day, the President added on that occasion.
