President participates in delivery of National Export Award 2022

Guatemala City, Oct 26 (AGN).- President Alejandro Giammattei participated in the award ceremony for the National Export Award 2022which was awarded to the company Aquamaya.

At the event, which was held at the National Theater, the president highlighted the role that exports play in Guatemala’s economic growth.

It is an evening in which our Guatemala, amazing and unstoppable, is represented in the awards given to the companies and institutions that have led, with their efforts, the entrepreneurship of our country during this yearGiammattei said.

Likewise, he valued the work carried out by the Association of Exporters of Guatemala (Agexport) in the last 40 years.

I want to congratulate Agexport and the organizing committee of the event for their leadership, with which they encourage continuous improvement of companies in the country, he claimed.

According to the president, the increase in Guatemalan exports is also a reflection of Guatemala’s attractiveness as a country of opportunities.

In that sense, he mentioned that until August 2022 Guatemala had registered exports valued at least 10 thousand 897 million dollars.

Given this, he recalled that there was a decrease due to the pandemic and the recovery of this sector demonstrates the national resilience.

Exports will grow, demonstrating not only the economic resilience but also the confidence of national and international investors. That is why we are sure that exports will continue to grow in 2023, he asserted.

Finally, the president congratulated the winners and urged the export sector to fight for a prosperous and unstoppable country.

The 2022 National Export Award event was promoted by Agexport and included the participation of representatives from the business and government sectors, among other special guests.

With the delivery of the National Export Award 2022, Agexport recognizes companies that, through their innovation and sustainability strategies, have contributed to the reactivation and growth of the Guatemalan economy.

Winning companies

During the gala, Agexport also awarded other companies and people under different categories:

  • Nova Guatemala, winner of the Reinvention and Innovation category
  • Acuamaya, under the category Business sustainability, good practices and protocols
  • Ferromax Group, winner of the Central American Exporter recognition
  • María Pacheco received the Woman Exporter recognition for her work in the business field and for putting Guatemala on high
  • The Ministry of Economy received the Support Institution recognition for having promoted public policies with an impact on competitiveness
  • María Arte Cultural received the award for Outstanding Entrepreneur
