Agexport will once again award the exporters of the year and these are the finalist companies
Six Guatemalan companies compete for the National Export Award, which is delivered annually by the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (Agexport) and the National Council for the Promotion of Exports (Conapex), to recognize innovation and business sustainability.
The 34th edition of this award will be held on October 26, where companies that stand out for doing competitive business, for contributing to the development of the country and for making exports an engine of economic growth will be recognized.
This year, six companies will participate for the recognition of the Exporter of the Year, a “statuette” made of bronze, which is recognized in two categories: Reinvention and Innovation, and Business Sustainability, Best Practices and Protocols. Companies exporting products and services from the manufacturing, clothing and textiles, agriculture, aquaculture and fishing sectors, and CC&BPO, had the opportunity to present their projects to a high-level jury for consideration. The finalists are:
Category 1: Reinvention and Innovation:
- NOVAGUATEMALA: Company founded in 2005, in the heart of Champerico, Retalhuleu, and is dedicated to the reproduction, cultivation, breeding, purchase, import, processing and export of shrimp.
- CAPGEMINI: Company that creates and delivers technology and business solutions that meet customer needs, allowing them to obtain high-impact results.
- POLYPRODUCTOS: Family business that manufactures industrial packaging, agricultural fabrics, agricultural pita and fishing rope, generating around 1,000 jobs.
Category 2: Business Sustainability, Best Practices and Protocols:
- GRANJAZUL: With more than 50 years delivering the best nutritional solutions for Guatemala, they have focused on making sustainability part of their DNA and organizational culture.
- ACUAMAYA: One of the first shrimp aquaculture companies in Central America, dedicated to the production, processing and marketing of high quality shrimp and related products.
- ALORICA: Creator of great digital customer experiences, with solvers, operators and technology experts associated with global brands and disruptive innovators to offer tailored interactions.
“Agexport has been characterized as an institution that prioritizes excellence and the Award represents an opportunity for companies to see in the short, medium and long term processes that allow them to be competitive, but above all to innovate or seek business sustainability, two factors key to putting Guatemala higher and higher in terms of providing services or products to the world with high added value,” said Leticia Salazar, president of the Organizing Committee of the National Export Award 2022.
Other recognitions
In this gala, for the fourth consecutive year, the Exporting Woman 2022 will be recognized, an award addressed to that institution or program directed by a woman who contributed during this year to the promotion of exports, investments and competitiveness, and the support to other women.
Likewise, recognition will be granted to the Entrepreneurship, which was selected from the Agexport Internationalization Route Program and which promotes enterprises with a view to export.
“For 40 years, the mission of the Agexport business group has been to make Guatemala an exporting country. The reason is because for countries with small economies like ours, exporting is the only way to generate the millions of formal jobs that we need”, said Devadit Barahona, director of the Board of Directors of Agexport.
According to Barahona, one of the milestones for exporters is to transform the structure of the sector, for which he exemplified how in 1987, approximately 75% of exports were traditional products, today that percentage is made up of non-traditional products.
