The ICCA Guatemala Summit takes place in the country
Guatemala City, Oct 18 (AGN).- ICCA Guatemala Summit It is the event that promotes the country as a destination for congresses, conventions and incentive trips, and it takes place this October 18 and 19.
The activity is organized by Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (Inguat) and the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA).
According to Inguat, the ICCA Summit events are held in the Latin American member countries of the international organization.
The purpose of these is strengthen the industry in promotion issues, through knowledge of the infrastructure and services of the destination. Likewise, this is intended to support the competitiveness of the countries through sessions by international exhibitors.
As part of the ICCA Guatemala Summit, there will be technical visits to fairgrounds, convention centers and relevant spaces in Guatemala. This aims to publicize the capacity of the country’s infrastructure. The activities that can be carried out in the national territory to place Guatemala as a destination for incentive trips will also be announced.
Finally, the Inguat will present about the different national tourist sites to promote the country’s offer for this segment.

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) points out that the meeting industry is one of the main drivers of tourist destination development. For this reason, it represents a important source of income, employment and foreign investment.
The meetings industry also offers opportunities to share contacts and knowledge, thereby contributing to the development of a country.
According to the Inguat Market Research and Analysis Department, the meeting industry segment represented 35 to 40% of hotel occupancy in 2017.
That is why the institution highlighted the potential that exists in this sector and recalled that Guatemala has halls, theaters, markets, squares, spaces for events and convention centers to offer internationally.
It is estimated that of the events that take place in the country, 70.7% take place in Guatemala City, 14% in Antigua Guatemala and 15.3% in other regions.
