Nominees for the 2022 National Export Award are presented

Guatemala City, Oct 18 (AGN).- The Guatemalan Association of Exporters (Agexport) presented this Tuesday to the finalists nominated for the National Export Award 2022.

These are six companies belonging to various economic sectors such as agriculture and fishing, clothing and textiles, manufacturing, services and contact center.

The award recognizes companies that, through their innovation and sustainability strategies, have contributed to the reactivation and growth of the Guatemalan economy.

Two categories were created for the round of finalists. The first is Reinvention and innovation, in which three exporters were chosen. Also, the second category is Business sustainability, best practices and protocols, which frames three other competitors.

The six companies were selected from the Agexport Internationalization Program, which promotes exports in new ventures.

For the first category the three selected are:

  • NovaGuatemala
  • capgemini
  • Polyproducts

Being a finalist in this award means that we are on the right track, we are very grateful and hope to win this year, said Jorge Chan, general manager of Polyproducts of Guatemala.

The other three selected are:

  • blue farm
  • Aquamaya
  • allorica

We are proud to be nominated for this award for sustainability. For us it is very important to create careers and change lives, one interaction at a time and continue to show that the Guatemalan has great capacity, commented Joan Salazar, representative of Alorica.

The award event will take place on October 26th in the Miguel Angel Asturias Cultural Center at 7:00 p.m. In this activity, the prize will be awarded to a winner for each category. This recognizes the effort and dedication to support the development of the sector.

Exports in Guatemala

Within the framework of the commemoration of the anniversary of the association, the director of the board of directors of Agexport, Devadit Barahona, also shared data on the growth of exports in the country. 40 years ago, when the institution was born, there was a record of at least 237 exporting companies and 149 products.

In addition, the growth of this sector was highlighted, which now has 4,000 exporting companies and more than 3,000 Guatemalan products sold abroad.
