state of calamity
During the program, the head of the Executive reported that, to give continuity to this aid, the central government decreed a state of calamity on October 12.
We were in a national emergency that made us mourn. Thousands of Guatemalans suffered the consequences of Cyclone Julia, but even in the dark times, we get the best of ourselves, he added.
The state of calamity will be valid for 30 days. During this period, government institutions together with governors and mayors will provide attention to incidents that occur in the 340 municipalities of the country.
At this time, political flags or ideologies do not matter, but rather unity as a country. I ask the @CongresoGuate to approve the state of calamity that will allow us to continue serving Guatemalans. Working together we will emerge stronger from this emergency. pic.twitter.com/Anl3rOiOn1
