Daily flights between Guatemala and Madrid announced from January 2023
The Official Chamber of Commerce of Spain in Guatemala (Camacoes) announced that Iberia will operate more direct flights between Guatemala and Madrid, a welcome news especially now that the high season in commercial aviation is approaching at the end of the year and the holiday period.
“From October 30, 2022, Iberia returns to Guatemala with flights operated on Airbus A330-200 with the usual configuration,” says the official statement.
On the other hand, he also confirmed that the frequency on the route will be increased until reaching a daily flight from January 2023.
On March 11, 2020, Iberia was one of the first airlines to cancel operations due to the measures implemented by the coronavirus, as well as the prohibition -at that time- of the entry of foreigners from Europe due to the expansion of covid-19.
However, commercial aviation activity on the Guatemala-Spain route has returned to normal, with a trend towards greater demand.
Reactivation
When Silvia Tamayac, general manager of Comacoes, was consulted about this Iberia operation, she stated that it is great news since it provides facilities to travel and helps with the promotion of Guatemala in Spain, because in some way these facilities in terms of travel allow to motivate Spanish tourists visit the country.
In addition, according to Tamayac, it opens doors to possible investors, promotion for more trade missions and for tourism, in both ways.
“We believe that in the short term this helps to reactivate the hotel, restaurant, and tourism segments, which are the sectors whose recovery has been slowest after covid-19,” said the director.
