Antigua GFC defeats Deportivo Mixco and jumps to the sub-leadership
The colonial cadre asserted its location and took advantage of two main errors to win the 2-0 win against a Mixqueño team that still does not get off the ground and reaches eight games in a row without knowing the victory.
In the first few minutes, the meeting became even, Mixco seemed to apply well to what the coach Douglas Sequeira turned on and at times put the Antigüeños in trouble.
But that it only lasted 41 minutes, after a backlash of the locals, took the rival defense badly. Cristian Hernández, faced and served Vidal Paz, who was alone and He took a strong shot that beat goalkeeper Kenderson Navarro, who was poorly placed and the ball slipped over the post that he had to defend.
For the second part, Antigua advanced its lines to take control of the game, while Mixco did the same to go in search of a tie.
The coach Sequeira made some variants, among them the defender Wilson Lalín, who ended up being the protagonist of the second goal of the colonials. Lalín in a play without much danger, wanted to move the ball back and ended up giving it to Lucas Gómez, who took a couple of steps and with a subtle touch, he took goalkeeper Navarro ahead to place the final 2-0.
Both teams ended up playing with 10 men, after the expulsions of Dany Rodas for Mixco and Marco Domínguez for Antigua, both due to double warnings.
With this win, Antigua GFC jumps to second place in the tournament and with 22 points is one behind the leader Comunicaciones. Meanwhile, Mixco will continue to be the second worst team in the championship in the penultimate position.
“I take responsibility for these two bad results that we have had. We tried to give the team an order, we had the chance to score, but we messed up and there is nothing left to do but get up and with work we will correct our mistakes “said Mixco coach Douglas Sequeira.
