Prosecutor’s Office defends accusation and presents wiretaps and photographs of meetings between defendants
The Special Prosecutor Against Impunity (Feci) continues to present the conclusions of the La Línea case, and this Wednesday, October 12, it defended the accusation against the members of said customs fraud structure. with wiretaps and photographs that they documented during the process.
Seven years have passed since the La Línea customs fraud case arose, in which senior former government officials from the Patriot Party are implicated. headed by former president Otto Pérez Molina and former deputy president Roxana Baldetti.
The prosecutor of the Feci, Leslie Rosales, assured before the High Risk Court B that the wiretaps helped to understand how the collections of “the tail” were planned and then some meetings agreed by members of the criminal structure were documented, which, according to the investigations, It would have been directed by the former presidential binomial of Otto Pérez Molina and Roxana Baldetti.
The prosecutor detailed meetings in which they would have participated Osama Aziz Aranki, Byron Izquierdo, Julio Estuardo González de León and Mynor Pineda.
Last Monday, October 10, the conclusions were initiated by the Public Ministry (MP) to know the evidence that had already been presented by the Feci in the case of La Línea, which is in the final stage.

Among the evidence that the MP provided during the process are reports, intercepted phone calls, messages and emails, as well as photographs of meetings between members of the organization, documents, invoices, notebooks, detailed files with payments made and accounting books.
The prosecutor explained that the members of the criminal structure had the Emilio Boutique as their center of operations, whom the defendants called “La Bodeguita”, where planning meetings were frequently held.

As scheduled by judges Irma Jeannette Valdés, Marling González and Katty Sarceño, October 11 and 12 were for the MP to present what he concluded in the case.
The La Línea case arose from a complaint about a customs fraud network that was allegedly directed by the presidential binomial of Pérez Molina and Baldetti. The first arrests in that case occurred on April 16, 2015, year in which several judicial processes for alleged corruption were also revealed.

The investigation of the MP and the former International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG), warned of a customs fraud network, which was operated by high-ranking officials.
