Guatemala participates in interactive dialogue of CESCR
Guatemala City, Oct 4 (AGN).- Guatemala participated this October 3 and 4 in the interactive dialogue of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) of the United Nations (UN).
As part of its participation, the Guatemalan delegation presented the progress made by the current administration in the application of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
In that sense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minex) He pointed out that during the country’s participation, the actions carried out to promote the nation’s resilience to the COVID-19 pandemic and to achieve economic and social development will be emphasized.

The CESCR dialogue takes place in Geneva, Switzerland, and takes place in two sessions of three hours each.
According to the Minex, Guatemala, El Salvador, Italy, Luxembourg, Mongolia and Tajikistan will be examined in this round.
In addition, it was recalled that the committee is made up of 18 independent experts who supervise the application of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
Said document intends that the Member States ensure the rights to adequate food and housing, health, education and social security, among others.
