Former presidential candidate is deported from the US and captured upon arrival in Guatemala
Manuel Baldizón, former presidential candidate for the extinct Lider party, returned to Guatemala on Wednesday, October 5, where he is singled out in two cases of corruption and has two arrest warrants.
Upon arrival in Guatemala, Baldizón is guarded by Interpol agents and He was transferred to the Court Tower by means of a strong security device, he even used an armored helmet and vest.
In a recent post on Twitter account, Baldizón reported on a letter that he sent on August 11 recently to the national authorities and institutions, The letter was delivered to the Guatemalan Consulate in the United States.
He added that he will be limited to sharing information regarding judicial cases, both national and foreign, due to the state of the investigations, which, according to him, will be sealed or under reserve for as long as the authorities deem appropriate.
In the letter sent to the Consulate, Baldizón expressed your desire to appear before the judicial authorities of your country to solve the situations that arise.

He added, according to the letter, that on Tuesday, August 16, he renounced all the migratory opportunities thatthat he could have in the immigration court of the United States and would request to be allowed to move to Guatemala as soon as possible.

Recently, the Public Ministry reported that Manuel Baldizón currently has pending two current arrest warrants for different open files against him.

One of these is for the Transurbano Case, in which he is accused of the crimes of illicit electoral financing and money laundering.
The others is the Odebrecht Case, in which he is accused of the crimes of active bribery, money laundering and illicit association.
Both cases are investigated by the Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Impunity (Feci).

The Guatemalan Institute of Migration reported that it has received the flight manifest of returned migrants this Wednesday, October 5, in which Baldizón’s return was confirmed.

The former presidential candidate for the defunct Lider party was in Arizona, USA, from where he was deported to Guatemala, where you have arrest warrants.
He should have arrived in Guatemala on Wednesday, September 28, on a deportee flight from the United States; nevertheless, his deportation was postponed due to a request from the politician to return on an “individual” flight, the family said at the time.
