Chocolate Doña Pancha, a product of Quetzaltecan entrepreneurs

Guatemala City, Sep 19 (AGN).- Since 1870, the dream of an enterprising woman began with the creation of a company that could sell her chocolates, which she created with her own hands through a family recipe.

Originally from Quetzaltenango, the Quijivix family started this venture, cooking from their homes a rich chocolate, which they called Dona Pancha.

This dream became a reality this year, as the sixth generation of the family received the distinction of White Seal, which recognizes companies with export quality. This is granted by the central government through the Ministry of Economy.

I am Cecilia Quijivix, I am part of the sixth generation of the Quijivix family. My fifth-generation mother taught us how to make this rich chocolate, Cecilia said.

About the company

Chocolate Doña Pancha has become a Quetzaltecan pride and a tourist attraction, due to its delicious and original flavor.

This is an enterprise, a small company, a woman’s dream come true, through her great-great-granddaughters, Cecilia explained.

This chocolate represents the culture, history, identity and generational concept of a centuries-old tradition that has been maintained. He was born in 2005; but it comes in generation from Doña Pancha’s great-great-grandmother, in 1870.

In addition, it contributes to 100 families, who are members of the Guatemalan Chocolate Association (Asochogua).

Variety of products

Doña Pancha offers a variety of products to enjoy at home. Chocolate for drinks, eating bars, dietary chocolate, dark chocolate, milk or grain chocolate and much more.

The process of making cocoa is completely handmade and family recipes are used to create their desserts.

Currently, this business is maintained by a 100% Guatemalan family. They have home delivery service in Quetzaltenango.

Gratitude

Chocolates Doña Pancha is one of the 37 companies that received the White Seal distinction on September 13.

I feel very happy, because several generations have dreamed of being able to export this product and with this quality mark, we hope that dream will come true soon, he said.

Cecilia thanked the central government for this recognition, highlighting that this type of project encourages small entrepreneurs to trust themselves to promote their products nationally and internationally.
