Controversy against Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg’s request to close the event to the public and the media did not resonate positively with certain people, especially in fighters and ex-fighters of the UFC.

Such was the case with Nathan “Nate” Quarryretired American fighter, who criticized the UFC for allowing Zuckerberg to buy the event: “The fact that the UFC thinks this is a great marketing opportunity shows how disconnected they are. I’m old enough to remember that the fighters are the main attraction. Not the promoter. And certainly not a guest to the fighting“, he tweeted.

For her part, Mackenzie Dern, one of the fighters in Saturday’s fight, who ended up losing to the Chinese Xiaonan “Fury” Yan, by majority decision, only limited herself to saying that “I know Mark Zuckerberg rented the whole event, so I know he’ll be there.“, without giving many details that would show emotion on his part for the presence of “Zuck”.

Zuckerberg bought the event that was held at the APEX, the UFC venue where fights of an intermediate range are played.
