What is known about the discovery of five bodies (three in a well and two buried) and the capture of five people in Canalitos
An operation by the security forces and the Public Ministry (MP) aimed at solving cases of violent deaths of women in Canalitos, zone 24, resulted in the discovery of five bodies, three of them in a well and two buried, as well as the arrest of five people, the Prosecutor’s Office reported this Sunday, October 2.
“The Office of the Prosecutor against the Crime of Femicide in coordination with the National Civil Police (PNC), derived from the investigations carried out into the violent deaths of women that occurred in Canalitos, zone 24, carried out 32 raids, inspections, searches and sequestration of evidence,” said the MP.
It adds that during the proceedings the bodies of five people were located, whose sex and identity have not been established. due to the advanced state of decomposition in which they are found.
“As a result of these (proceedings) in zone 24 of Guatemala City, the Prosecutor’s Office against the Crime of Femicide, in coordination with the security forces and with the support of the Forensic Anthropology Foundation located 5 corpses, three of them in a well and two buried”, refers to the report of the MP.
It adds that after processing the scene, the bodies were transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), where specialists must identify the identities, sex and causes of death.

“Likewise, five people were apprehended, identified as: Estevin Danilo Chacón Marroquín, Derick Andrés Pineda Marroquín and Melvin Omar Alvarado Sazo, who are accused of the crimes of conspiracy to murder and illicit association”, the MP said.
Agega that Lusvin Manolo López Álvarez, who is accused of illicit association, and Luis Armando Diego Sochón, who was apprehended in flagrante delicto, since, upon verifying in the solvency system, He had a valid arrest warrant for the crime of sexual assault with aggravation of the sentence in real competition.
The authorities did not elaborate on what cases of femicide are investigated in that area.

Nor did they reveal the cases in which the detainees are presumed to be involved. They also did not disclose if it is about members of any gang or any of the gangs that operate in the area.
