They seek to promote tourism between Huehuetenango and Mexico
Huehuetenango, Sep 30 (AGN).- Authorities from Huehuetenango and the City Council of Comitán de Domínguez, Chiapas, Mexico, seek to establish a twinning between the territories in order to promote tourism.
During the tenth ordinary meeting of the departmental development council (Codede) the project was presented and the progress of the dialogues was reported. The objective is to establish an agreement, which is sought to be signed before the end of the year.
As announced, the intention is to facilitate the entry and transit of Huehuetecos and residents of other departments in the aforementioned municipality of Chiapas and vice versa. The authorities stated that this would help strengthen the cultural and economic exchange between the places.
To socialize the initiative, a delegation from the city council participated in the meeting, which spoke about the touristic destinations most important in the jurisdiction. Likewise, he shared details about the citizen security actions in force in the town.
The governor of Huehuetenango, Jorge Juan de León, thanked the authorities for their visit and recalled that Guatemala and Mexico are strategic allies in various fields.

Actions for development
Other issues addressed during the Codede session are related to efforts to strengthen reproductive health, including responsible parenthood. In this regard, representatives of the Health area spoke about strategies to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality.
The agency also reported that from October 10 to 31, a vaccination day for dogs and cats will be held to protect them against rabies.
In addition, follow-up was given to the execution of projects in the 33 municipalities of the department and to projections for the coming year.
