Tourism sector reflects positive results for the country’s economy
Guatemala City, Sep 28 (AGN).- This year, Guatemala has presented an increase in the tourism sector compared to 2021. According to the director of the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (Inguat), Anayansy Rodríguez, until August they had entered the country one million 132 thousand 366 tourists.
These data reflect a significant increase, since as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic the number of tourists reported that same month of 2021 was 357 thousand 33. This also represents an increase in the country’s economy.

significant increase
According to information from the Market Analysis Research Department, the largest influx of visitors this 2022 occurred during the August holidays.
In addition, from August 1 to 6 there was an economic spill of at least 131 million quetzales. Likewise, there was a 75% increase in Salvadoran tourists compared to August 2021. In that sense, it was detailed that in 2021 the number was 13 thousand tourists per year and in 2022, 54 thousand.

- Guatemágica, on the south coast

Guatemala as a tourist destination
Guatemala has a wide variety of tourist destinations that show the richness of the country’s culture, customs and traditions.
