President receives Copresam work report
Guatemala City, Sep 28 (AGN).- The Presidential Commission for Municipal Affairs (Copresam) presented its quarterly labor report to President Alejandro Giammattei.
The document highlights the support provided in the communes for the installation of projects for the municipal water and sanitation offices (OMAS).
We present the results of the last quarter of Copresam’s actions to the President, among which the installation of 118 OMAS stands outindicated Luis Ruano, head of this entity.
The official delivery was made during a meeting held at the Presidential House. Copresam was created by Government Agreement 42-2020.
Achievements
At the end of the meeting, in an interview for the Guatemalan News Agency (AGN), Ruano detailed the main achievements in this period.
Copresam is today a training support that has positioned itself with urgent issues and other keys to improve the capacities of municipal corporations, said.
Likewise, he highlighted the strategic planning for water and solid waste sanitation projects, municipal methodology, technical advice, among others.
During the presentation of the report, the articulation of 21 institutions in projects to benefit the most distant communities of the country was also highlighted.

Trainings
Commissioner Luis Ruano highlighted that from January to date training has been provided to mayors and municipal employees.
In this period, more than 2,100 municipal employees, technicians and members of the municipal councils and mayors have been trained through the different courses and training processes that are carried out in Copresam, because we understand that there are many issues that are municipal competence, but that require support from the Executive to strengthen the technical teams and their capacitiessaid the official.
The commissioner reported that the training will continue to be carried out in the coming months to serve the 340 municipalities.

Strengthening of OMAS
Within the framework of the Great National Crusade for Nutrition, Copresam reiterates that it continues to create, strengthen and inaugurate OMAS in Guatemala.
The idea is that each municipality has an OMAS to analyze the issue of drinking water, garbage and wastewater, through the methodology, regulations, technical teams and territorial planning. With this we will continue this year opening and strengthening the OMAS, the official pointed out.
