President meets with UN Secretary General
Guatemala City, Sep 21 (AGN).- The President Alejandro Giammattei met this Wednesday with the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization (UN), Antonio Guterres, as part of its work agenda in the framework of the 77th. Period of Sessions of the UN General Assembly.
We had a meeting with the secretary general in which we covered the call to the countries to reform the UN. We express our support to enter fully into the reforms, said the president at the end of the meeting.
Likewise, he reaffirmed his position on the need to promote these reforms, one of the topics he addressed during his speech before the assembly.

Support for Ukraine
Meanwhile, the Guatemalan President stressed his support for the end of the war between Ukraine and Russia, respecting the peace of the countries.
We are also co-sponsors of the resolution against the violation of human rights that is taking place in Ukraine at the request of the president of this nation, Volodímir Zelenski, and the UN itself, said the official.
This topic was presented during his speech on the first day of sessions of the UN General Assembly, in which he urged the end of the conflict and achieve world peace.

sustainability center
President Giammattei also presented to the UN Secretary General the future construction of a world center for sustainability in Guatemala.
In Guatemala, a research and exchange center is about to be built where 193 countries can converge, he pointed.
Also, in this center the UN could certify the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the world.
Guatemala would not put a penny, everything is private investment with multinational companies. Here you could have all the social responsibility programs, the president explained.
For his part, the UN Secretary General expressed his gratitude, expressed his support for the Guatemalan president and reported that he had appointed a commission for all the countries of the organization to participate. The goal is for this project to start in 2023 and its construction is expected to last around two years.

What does the project include
In this center it will have a museum of native peoples and an opera center for concerts and various world artistic activities. In addition, it was reported that the place would have an artificial lake with the Mayan tree.
It would be located at the exit of the RN-14, highway to the Pacific, where we would have an imposing view of volcanoesGiammattei noted.
Likewise, it will have a hotel where at least 400 people could stay, thus promoting Guatemala’s position in the world. With this, it is expected that at least 2 million people visit the place.
