More than 43,000 Guatemalans received care at mobile consulates
Guatemala City, Sep 22 (AGN).- As a result of the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minex) To provide assistance to Guatemalans abroad, the consular network in the United States has served 43,721 people this year.
According to the portfolio, this amount has been attended in the 96 sessions of Mobile Consulates that have been held from January to date. These conferences were organized to bring various services closer to Guatemalans who live far from consular offices.

Served in August
The Foreign Ministry report details that, only in August, the Government of Guatemala attended to 3 thousand 955 nationals in 10 days of Mobile Consulates.
Likewise, it was recalled that these activities are carried out every month in order to bring services closer to Guatemalans.

- Seymour, Indiana

- Greenville, South Carolina

- Caldwell, Idaho

- Liberal, Kansas
- Bryan, Texas

Services offered
In the 10 Mobile Consulates held in August, 6,522 services were offered, most of them related to the delivery of passports and consular identification cards.
In addition, support in data enrollment to obtain a passport and personal identification document (DPI), legal and immigration guidance, birth and death certificates, and consular protection. These are some of the assistance provided during the sessions, which generally take place on weekends.
With these actions, the government of the President Alejandro Giammattei reaffirms its commitment to assist nationals abroad and implement strategies to bring them closer to assistance and documentation services wherever they are located.

The goal
According to the head of Mines, Mario Búcaro, this year’s goal is to develop more than 100 Mobile Consulates in the United States.
The goal is to carry out 140 Mobile Consulates this year progressively every weekend with general attention for Guatemalans, he indicated in an interview for the Guatemalan News Agency (AGN).
On the other hand, it was mentioned that on September 24 and 25, mobile consulates are expected to be held in New York and Raleigh.
In addition, in October there is a conference scheduled on the 15th and 16th in the city of Maryland.
