Guatemala knows who its rivals will be in the group stage of the next Under 17 World Cup
This morning the draw was made for the next Sub 17 World Cup which will be played in Guatemala and will award four places for the World Cup to be held in Peru.
The draw was held at the facilities of the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Soccer (CONCACAF) in the city of Miami, in the United States.
the championship will include the participation of 20 Concacaf member associationsbut the group stage will feature 16, and in the direct elimination round the teams from Bermuda, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Puerto Ricowho won their classification by finishing among the best in the men’s classification.
The Guatemalan team which is under the technical direction of the Mexican Marvin Cabrera has been preparing for more than a year for this event with the sole objective of achieving his first World Cup qualification in this category.
Guatemala was placed in Group E, and will have as rivals the national teams of Mexico, Panama and Curaçao.
It will start with the group stage of which the best three of each will qualify, to advance to the direct elimination round that will be joined by Bermuda, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico. will be played keys to the round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, those who reach this stage will be the ones who qualify for the World Cup in Peru and the winners will play the final for the title of the World Cup.
The Mexican team is the current champion of this contest, which he won in 2019 against the United States, in Bradenton, Florida.
