Jesús Hernández won a bronze medal at the 2022 Veterans World Cup

At 56 years old, the Guatemalan Jesús Hernández demonstrated that age is not a limit to achieve what one sets out to do, and proof of this was the bronze medal he won in the World Judo Championships for Veterans 2022.

It was between September 8 and 11, when this judoka had the opportunity to put the Guatemalan flag on the podium of the World Cup that was held in the city of Krakow, Poland. That pride!

Jesús Hernández stood out in Poland with a world judo medal

The World Judo Championship for Veterans was attended by a total of 837 exponents from 60 countries around the world, including the Guatemalan Hernandez, who saw action in the category of -100 kilograms.

Jesus needed 3 wins and 1 loss to win one of the medals at stake. His participation began in the Pool Dwhere he managed to beat the Kazakh Samalbek Ainatayev and was later defeated by Slawomir Kaminski.

With these results, the Guatemalan was placed in the playoffwhere he achieved two more victories, against the Poles Zbigniew Tarnawski Y Grzegorz Kupczynski. It was in this way that Hernández finished securing one of the bronze medals that were awarded.

On the podium, the Guatemalan was accompanied by the German Joerg Schenke, who was the other bronze medalist. The gold medal went to Iulian Rusufrom Austria, while the silver went to the Pole Kaminski.

Jesus was one of the three Latin American medalists that had the Judo World Cup for Veterans. The other two were nationals Argentina.

While in the general medal table of the championship, Guatemala was located in the position 46 beside Cameroon, Morocco Y San Marinowho also added a bronze in the championship.
